Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.)Our D.Min. program is tailored toward seasoned practitioners who wish to deepen their experience with the Lord Jesus Christ. The core of our program is spirituality and spiritual formation. Rather than providing students with multiple tracks addressing differing disciplines and interests in the field of pastoral studies, it is our intention to address the soul primarily. In order to accomplish this objective, students have a large role in the shaping of their programs to fit their spiritual aspirations. It is assumed that, having been in the ministry for at least five years, students have developed mature visions for their lives and parishes. This program is meant to be a means by which these aspirations can be achieved. Since each student comes with a unique background, unique gifts, and a unique disposition, each student’s call is very distinctive. Although we all aspire to realize our union with Christ, our particular paths to that end differ. We have at our disposal two thousand years of rich spiritual traditions in the Church, paths that take us to Jesus through contemplation, education, missions, art, preaching, liturgics, and ministry to the poor. This program is structured so that students can draw closer to Jesus Christ by taking any one of these paths. We want our students to experience a mystic, sweet communion with the Church Fathers with whom they have a natural affinity, and this experience should help them draw closer to Jesus Christ. Therefore, on one hand, spirituality is the core concern for every student in the program since the D.Min. degree is in spiritual formation. On the other hand, it will look different for every student as each will create his own curriculum through the guidance of the seminary. No two students’ curricula will look exactly alike. Yet there is one common chain that will link all students together, and that chain is Jesus Christ and our common desire to become His disciples in ever deeper ways as we realize our union together in Him. As students progress through the program, their discoveries will be shared by all, and everyone will leave the program with a very broad and deep knowledge of Christian Trinitarian spirituality in its many manifestations. The D.Min is specifically designed for continuing education of priests in the Anglican Church in America, but clergy from other denominations will also be considered for admittance. Prospective students should have an M.Div. degree and must have at least five years of ministerial experience in order to apply. Applicants with an M.Min. must complete additional prerequisites in language and theology before being a into the D.Min. program. Interested students must also have the approval of their bishop.
